Derrick Williams

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 195lb
High School: Eleanor Roosevelt, Maryland

Derrick Williams is regarded as the #1 recruit today amongst the vast majority of college recruitniks and will likely make an immediate impact as a true freshman next year. As a highly rated track sprinter with blazing speed, his 40 yard dash has been recorded in the 4.2 to 4.3 range. Williams is a pure athlete and can play just about any position including wide receiver, running back, cornerback, and quarterback. As a junior at Eleanor, he recorded 37 touchdowns from various positions and helped the school to a 9-2 record as co-county 4A champs. His high school coach has labeled him as the best high school player he has ever coached or seen. Consequently, he is being highly sought after by just about every top program in the nation including Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Florida State, and Penn State.

Williams also has the quality of being a student with a GPA above 3.0 easily academically qualifying to most schools as well as having a good reputation amongst coaches and teammates. He and his family have created several criteria for his potential college selection including freshman PT, Heisman potential and good minority graduation rates.

Prior to Ron Zook's firing, Williams had a lean toward Florida, one of the reasons being that his best friend, 5 star DE Derrick Harvey signed with UF last year. Since then, it has been rumored that Williams has narrowed his choices down to three schools and will most likely include Oklahoma, USC, and Florida. His final decision will be announced live nationally on ESPN News on December 22, 2004.

UPDATE: Derrick Williams has chosen Penn State University and will probably enroll for this upcoming Spring semester.
