Commentary:
Another one of the DE/LB combo players for this year. However, this one has speculation of him moving to DE in college from LB in high school (Could really go either way, but 6'-5 says DE more than LB).
Very athletic kid. Plays AAU level basketball.
Things in UF's favor:
- Attended early session of RSC and will return for July session as well.
- On signing day, this is the type of kid that you can just see Coach Zook talking about his athletic ability (~let me tell you about Gerald, the kid could dunk a basketball when he was 10 years old....).
- Williams attending the June RSC instead of the Miami camp might be an indication that UM hasn't yet and might not offer this kid.
- "Me and my boy [Vladimir Richard] committed to Florida. Everybody was looking at Miami and we wanted to put Florida on the map. It's time for a change. I liked Coach Zook a lot - he emphasized grades first and said you can't be a great player unless you're a great student first." (Redman 7/12/04)
Superb news that he's a baller AND grades are important. Sounds like he found the right place!
