Derrick
McPhearson, a 4 star recruit from Hyattsville, Maryland was actually signed with the University of Florida as part of Ron Zook's 2004 class. Unfortunately, he did not qualify academically that year and has since been at Virginia's Fork Union Academy (where UF basketball's Adrian Moss as well as former Gator Kenyan Weaks attended).
Once regarded as one of the top 20 wide receivers in the nation,
McPhearson is still being sought after as a top prep school athlete. A tough receiver with good size and speed hovering around a 4.4 40 as well as leaping ability (38" vertical),
McPhearson is still mentioned in the same breath as Florida as he has verbally recommitted this year. Despite this, there are still rumors swirling about including a recent visit to Nebraska as well as a connection to the Maryland Terrapins (his brother, Gerrick, plays cornerback).
Other:
Helped
DeMatha to an undefeated season in his senior year with 40 catches for 1060 yards and 12 touchdowns as well as playing defensive back. Also touted as a baseball player. Selected to the Washington Post All-Met team.
High school GPA/SAT score: 2.8/920

"I signed with Florida last season and I am still committed to them right now, although I may still make a visit or two."
