2006 Mock Classes

What would be the fun in recruiting if you didn't have a mock class to follow? I'm just hoping to get at least one player right. Edit and add your class below:

What about Lucky @ QB, Antoine Smith @ RB?

  • Tend to be skeptical of California recruits (Lucky). Think Smith is UM bound (Just a question of how long before UF realizes that). -KEYS

What is the likelihood that we get Neefy?

-Anonymous (Tue, 29 Jun 2004, 01:53PM)

Awfully pessimistic class IMO. We have offered five out-of-state QBs? so far and not offered Hill.
Thinking maybe Mabry, O'Hara and either Jamaal Charles, or Jonathan Armstong at RB.

Carlos Thomas, O.J. Murdock, Paul Muse and either Derrick Williams or Taurus Johnson at WR/TE.

Wilson, Bemoll, Haupt, McNeil?, and either Dunmon or Antuan Lewis at OL.

Kade Weston, Kendrick Stewart and/or Vladmir Richard/ JAmes? Mckinney at DT. Gerald Williams and Justin Mincey at DE.

Kalvin Baker, Ryan Stamper, Spencer Adkins and Quintin Taylor with either Darius Dewberry and Fred Lenix as possibles.

DB-Evans, Morley and McFadden? with Ray Herring.

Gallant Gator:

QB-Jon Garner; I like this guy, from everything I've heard, he's a lot like Danny Wuerffel, but with a stronger arm, and better feet. No, he isn't Ryan Perriloux or Mark Sanchez, but he is a very talented guy, who could end up the heir to Chris Leak, IMO.

RB-Paul O'Hara, Kalvin Bailey; Right now, I just don't feel like we're going to land Marlon Lucky. I think he will end up at USC, Nebraska, or Washington, before he will come to Florida. Although Lucky has said distance will not be a factor, he could be the man right away at U-Dub or Nebraska, and SC didn't sign a RB last year, so after two years, he would be the man there. LaGarrette? Blount may also sign with UF, but I doubt he qualifies, and even if he does, he might be looking at a move to LB with his size and speed (6'1 1/2, 220 lbs.). O'Hara and Bailey are two big, tough, strong, and productive runners. These two combined for over 3,500 rushing yards last year. Bailey could also help out at FB as well.

WR-O.J. Murdock, Louis Murphy, Derrick McPhearson (resign); Right now, while I feel we will be in it until the end with Derrick Williams, I think he ultimately signs elsewhere (Penn State, IMO). However, while Murdock doesn't have the same name-brand recognition, he is in the same class, talent-wise. Murphy is an underrated prospect, he has good size (6'3"), and is a class-act on, and off the field.

TE-Gabe McKenzie?; Simply an awesome specimen, McKenzie? could get on the field early in Gainesville. Currently around 6'3 1/2", and 220 lbs., McKenzie? is the kind of guy you can see come in here and under the tutlage of Rob Glass, put on about 20 lbs. in a heartbeat. While Dajleon Farr would be my dream guy for this spot, McKenzie? makes one of the best Plan B guys you will ever see. If we can keep up the trend of being his leader until he signs on the dotted line, we will get our third solid TE prospect over the last two years at the TE position.

OL-Ron Wilson, Eddie Haupt; These two guys are the only ones I feel comfortable putting down here right now. We are going to sign at least 4 big uglies this year, but I don't know where the coaching staff stands on a lot of them. Wilson and Haupt are two great prospects, who will provide instant depth on the interior of the OL (if they come to UF). Other prospects who could fill the other slots include: Simon Codrington, Larry Morgan, Terrence Finley, Brian Kelleher, Danny Tolley, Larry Tabasky, Richard Clark, and Josh McNeil?, among a host of other OL prospects that are showing intrest in UF.

DE-Justin Mincey;A 5* stud, he also could end up playing DT as well. Great size (6'5", 250 lbs.), with a great motor, even if he is in the 4.7-4.8 range. Could also end up at UGA, or Miami. If this is the case, look for a push on a prospect like Neal Jones. Another option would be to sign another TE (Tommy Trott? Michael Holton? Charles Hoke? Richard Gordon? Dajleon Farr?) and move Gabe McKenzie? to DE.

DT-Kendrick Stewart, Vlad Richard; These two seem like the surest bets to me (as of July). While the staff would love to land Kade Weston, Vince Oghobasse, DeMarcus? Granger, or Callahan Bright, I just don't see it happening right now. HOWEVER, these two prospects are going to be big-time players in college. Stewart is your classic NT, a bit shorter (only 6'1"), but big and very strong, with the ability to simply bull over opponents. He has some work to do to qualify, but if he does, he should be a stud down the road for us. Richard is more of a three-technique type player, as he is very athletic (4.41 pro shuttle) and has great height for a DT (6'4 1/2"). He only weighs around 250-255 right now, but, he will put the weight on quickly. And the strength coaches like putting muscle on, a whole heck of a lot better than trying to burn a bunch of fat off.

LB-Kalvin Baker, Gerald Williams; Right now, I believe we will take no less than 4 prospects here, and no more than 5. These two seem pretty solid, but other than that, there are a boatload of other possibilities out there. Personally, I believe we are going to land a stud guy (i.e. Ryan Reynolds). Not sure which one, but there are about 3-4 of them looking to Gainesville, and I would be highly surprised if at least one of them didn't end up signing.

DB-Dee Morley, Walter McFadden?, Bryan Evans, Reggie Nelson; I'm not counting out Avery Atkins out just yet. I'm not putting him on here for now, but I still think we have a very good shot at landing him. It's just hard to tell, as it seems like he's going through a lot right now with the whole recruiting process, and he's having a hard time sorting through everything. Still, even the four guys above would make a tremendous class. Lots of speed with this group, which is always a must at DB. Eric Sledge is also a possibility. He would make a great package deal along with Quentin Taylor.

K-Andrew Friedman; No scholarship K's after this year. Not a must to me, but it would be nice to sign a good kicker. UF is rumored to lead for Friedman, as always with a prospect from the state of Alabama however, the two big in-state programs will have a say in his recruitment as well.

Urban Meyer:

Also for QB, Josh Portis, a 4 star dual threat QB recently decommitted from Utah. Urban will probably try to lure him to Gainesville. and I trust the guy when he talks quartercbacks.

Mattyboy88
qb: Portis (no Garner due to lack opportunity)
rb: R.J. Jackson and Tony Wright (if you havent seen this guy, he has great size and speed)
WR: Murdock, Murphy, Nelson, Boateng, LaFell? and McPhearson (Derek McPhearson needs to qualify)
OL: Haupt, Wilson, Codrington, Barney, and Chris Scott

DL:
LB: Pig Baker, Jon Demps, Stamper, Jerome Hayes, and Darryl Gresham
DB: Avery Atkins, Sledge, Reggie Nelson and Dorian Munroe
